Europe PE, PP prices drop in August, summer lull deepened by low demand

LONDON (ICIS)--European polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) prices fell in August, taking more than a cue from the ethylene drop of €70/tonne since negotiations are ongoing. The usual holiday lull in August is more emphasised than usual, as many southern European converters extend planned shutdowns to counter high costs from upstream polymers, utilities, and transport.
