Western Resource Adequacy Program tariff to address reliability headed to FERC

In a move to address resource adequacy as capacity becomes increasingly tight, the Western Power Pool board of directors approved a tariff for the first region-wide reliability planning and compliance program in the US West, which will head to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission by the end of the month. The Western Resource Adequacy Program, or WRAP, was approved by the board Aug. 23 and delivers a regional approach for assessing and addressing resource adequacy, taking advantage of operating efficiencies, diversity and sharing of pooled resources, according to WPP.
