Preston often covers power generation in this section due to the applications for pressure tube in that sector. Last month it was noted that renewables have been the focus of new power construction as efforts continue to decarbonize. But from a pressure tubing perspective, thermal generation is what is important from both a maintenance and a new construction point of view. In 2021, there was about 845 gigawatts of thermal power generation capacity in the US which was down from about 873 gigawatts in 2015. This represents a decline of 4.6 gigawatts per year.
