The winners of the NSCA Foundation and GIO Workers Compensation's 28th National Safety Awards of Excellence were announced on Wednesday. 8 December, 2021, during a gala luncheon at Doltone House. The gala luncheon celebrated the organisations and individuals that actively promote workplace health and safety, and honoured the worthy winners of nine highly competitive categories. Television sports presenter, reporter and commentator Stephanie Brantz served as Master of Ceremonies (MC), opening the event by acknowledging that it had been a challenging year for many individuals and organisations across Australia and paying tribute to all those who have contributed to workplace health and safety through a continuing global pandemic. "I acknowledge everyone in this room, including those joining virtually, for their role, no matter how big or small, in improving the standards of Australian workplace safety. You are all safety heroes," Brantz said.
