Overseas, the World Organisation for AnimalHealth (OIE) has called for increasedsurveillance of avian influenza, as outbreaks inpoultry and wild birds intensify. In Australia, we continue to review oursurveillance and preparedness arrangements to ensure they areappropriately matched to the evolving risk, through programs such asthe National Avian Influenza Wild Bird Surveillance Program. It is criticalwe all remain vigilant by maintaining best practice in biosecurity, andcontinuing to report and investigate unusual disease in domestic andwild birds.
