Based on the data of 269 prefecture level cities in China from 2004 to 2018, an empirical study on the space spillover effect of air pollution on green total factor productivity was conducted. The study found that air pollution has both an intra-regional inhibitory effect and an inter-regional spillover effect on green total factor productivity, and the effective spillover boundary is 581 km. From the perspective of geographical location characteristics, the spillover effect of air pollution is the strongest in the east, the second in the middle, and the weakest in the west. Judging from the differences between the three economic zones, the spillover effect of air pollution is the strongest in the Pearl River Delta economic zone, followed by the Bohai Rim, and the weakest in the Yangtze River Delta economic zone.
