Financing has closed for the planned 339-mile Champlain HudsonPower Express line, allowing construction to begin on the 1,250-MW transmission project to carry hydropower from Quebec to NewYork City.The approximately $6 billion Champlain Hudson Power Express,or CHPE, is expected to be fully operational by 2026, developerssaid Nov. 1. The transmission line will follow a fully buried route fromQuebec to New York City. In October, CHPE selected NKT, Kiewit PowerConstructors Co. and Hitachi Energy to oversee major constructionoperations. Hydro-Québec will supply the hydroelectric power.
