The goal of sanitary design is to develop a complete facility and culture, not only the brick-and-mortar building, with CGMP in mind. Every manufacturer and facility should have a cohesive, cross-functional team who owns the risk prevention design and operation of the facility. Ideally, 3D models of a well-designed facility are combined with standard operating procedures and data management systems to enable predictive maintenance, while subsequent daily operation and plant upgrading efforts can leverage that which has been learned from past experience to make future sanitary design efforts more effective.
