Polymer coated steel is widely used in a variety of industrial applications. Polymer pre-coating enables steel products to be manufactured in more efficient and sustainable way. Deformations can be provided on the polymer coated steel substrate in order to meet mechanical requirements of the steel products and/or to give the products their required shape. However, stresses and defects, such as cracks and crazes, in the polymer coating can be developed due to the deformation of the polymer coated steel substrates. As 'polymer-coated steel' is implied a multi-layered product comprising a steel substrate coated on at least one side with a high molecular weight, linear thermoplastic polymer, which has been applied in a solvent-free process route.
