Acciona's water division seems destined to top €1 billion in revenues for the first time in 2021, after notching up an impressive series of contract wins in the Middle East and Latin America. "The backlog has increased relevantly over this year, and it's put us in a very healthy situation," commented Jose Diaz-Caneja, CEO of the group's water business. "In Latin America, we are very happy with some projects that we have been awarded recently, and we have more opportunities to capitalise on our sustainability approach, which has been within the DNA of Acciona for a long time," he told GWI this month. A pertinent example of this is the $1 billion green financing package Acciona and its partners are putting together to fund a trio of independent sewage treatment plants in Saudi Arabia (see table below).
