The Hungarian oil and gas company intends to take advantage of its integrated structure by converting more fossil fuels into PCs. According to Downstream Executive Vice President Ferenc Horvath, for the next decade, MOL's refining strategy will involve an increased focus on PCs and the development of new technologies. Horvath said, "We do not see the double-digit increase every year in fossil fuel demand like we have seen in the last 25-30 years and we are going into PCs and chemicals, where we were and we are in a very competitive position because, besides our refineries, we also have two PC complexes." The executive went on to add that the company, which operates three refineries and two PC crackers, plans to produce specialty products including butadiene, polyolefins, and synthetic rubber. Upstream, MOL is targeting production of 120K boe/d this year, compared to 11 IK boe/d in 2019.
