Cairns Steel Fabricators effectively doubled its capacity and improved productivity by becoming leaner through a Value Stream Mapping process. Cairns Steel Fabricators (CSF) estimates a 25% increase in both productivity and throughput within a couple of months, simply by implementing the recommendations of QMI Solutions' Value Stream Mapping process. According to Sean Adams, General Manager and Director, many simple changes have vastly improved CSF's operation and the morale of their 100-strong staff. "We knew we had inefficiencies and knew there were bottlenecks, but we've managed to deal with most of them. In this current economic climate you've got to keep trying to improve and cut margins and increase productivity where you can," Mr Adams says.
