Feedstock imports by China’s independent refiners rose 8.1 to 13.163 million mt in September, up from a 17-month low in August, as an increase in refining margins boosted sentiment, trade sources told SP Global Platts on Oct. 13. The uptick followed three consecutive months of declines. The independent refining sector has faced continuous investigations by both provincial and central government agencies since late April, which had earlier capped their buying interest for crude.
