Herein, we report a self-supporting electrode fabricated by calcining Co-MOF on nickel foam (Co3O4@NF) for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Consequently, in alkaline electrolyte, Co3O4@NF exhibits excellent catalytic activity and fast kinetics towards HER, requiring only small overpotentials of 131 and 224 mV to provide current densities of 10 and 100 mA cm-2, and good durability at 10 mA cm-2 for 50 h. This is attributed to the rough surface of Co3O4@NF, which provides much active sites and therefore facilitates the HER process.
