The Building Client Prize of the Hypo Vorarlberg is awarded every five years. This year once again an international jury toured through the province on the trail of exceptional building projects. The Vorarlberg Architecture Institute (vai) not only organised the prize-procedure itself, but in its current exhibition in Dorn-birn it also presents the submitted and prizewinning projects. The fact that Vorarlberg is blessed with interesting architecture is not the result of chance. It is seen there as important to compile at regular intervals a current inventory of built architecture as a means of showing where developments and tendencies in the region are heading. As with the last Building Client Prize in 2015, the vai in Dornbirn presents the range of current completed projects to the public -with the aim of bringing visitors as close as possible to the building. In speaking about built architecture almost nothing can replace the physical encounter, says curator Clemens Quirin.
