This project was inspired by John Swinkels' cutting board in AWW #204 April 2019. It was an end-grain design with integrated legs made by turning, routing and filing a blank to the required shape. I wanted a similar cutting board for our kitchen so Iundertook the challenge to make it using my CNC router.End grain boards are commonly used for applications where significant impact forces might be used for cutting or cleaving, as they are less likely to split than edge grain alternatives. It is also claimed that they can have a less dulling effect on knives and show less surface cut marks over a period of extended use. Such marks can be easily removed by resanding.
