Bulgaria has followed the recent moves of Mongolia and Venezuela, demanding renegotiation of existing agreements and more concessions from mining companies. In early August, Bulgarian environment minister Dzhevdet Chakarov stated that a 30-year gold mining agreement with Canada's Dundee Precious Metals needed to be revised because it did not suit government interests.
