Some people believe you have to spend a lot of money on a metal detector if you want to be successful at finding gold nuggets with it. There is also a tendency to recommend pulse induction (PI) metal detectors over induction balance (IB) detectors, also commonly referred to as VLF (very low frequency) detectors. Not coincidentally, these pulse induction detectors also happen to be the most expensive metal detectors.
