The upcoming Food Ingrédients Europe trade show, to take place in London on October 30-November 1, promises as always to be one of the sector's most important events of the year. Attendance is expected to exceed the figures for 2005, with 23,000 professional visitors from the food industry. More than 1,000 exhibitors from 100 countries will be on hand. New this year is the sister exhibition Natural Ingredients (Ni), devoted to products for nutraceuticals, cosmetics, foods and alternative medicine. The Best Innovation in Food Ingredients awards will honor the outstanding launches of the past two years. FiE will also feature a program of Showcases: 30-minute presentations in which exhibitors spotlight their recent developments. In parallel, guest speakers will give presentations (restricted access) on the latest advances in product claims, regulations, food safety, non-aller-genic foods, reduced sugar, salt and trans fats contents, etc. Other themes to be discussed include nutrigenomics, nanotechnologies and special markets (seniors, children, ethnic, etc.). This special report previews some of the innovations to be presented at this year's FiE.
