The production of primary aluminium increases year on year, only not so in Germany and Europe, where the trend toward production cuts persists. The latest Job's announcement is the closure of the Rheinwerk/Rhine plant in Neuss. The aluminium smelter, which began operating in a first expansion stage in 1963, had already halved its production by September 2022 and now, the owner Speira has announced that in the second half of this year the electrolysis pots are to be closed down completely. The site will be reconfigured into a casting plant and recycling centre, with the corresponding investments.
