In this year of record sales for some, record losses for others, and - not coincidentally - record sales incentives, the automotive executives we surveyed are increasingly mixed in their sense of a wide variety of issues. While there are a few constants, such as the belief that consumers want quality and safety, and some obvious changes - a big jump in the number of those who think hybrid sales will dramatically increase - executives are often sharply divided depending on their region and industry segment. The prevailing mood is uncertainty. This is a new phenomenon.
