In Australia, the previous large-scale sheep and cattle Johne’s disease (JD) focused projects have evolved into broader biosecurity and endemic disease programmes. There remains one small project dedicated to JD for all species - the National Johne’s Disease Project. It includes the main peak industry bodies for cattle, sheep, goat and alpaca and aims to provide effective coordination of the Johne’s disease (JD) Market Assurance Programs and provide a forum for the affected industries to discuss cross-species JD issues.
