Engineered bamboo has gained worldwide attention as a building material owing to its energy-efficient and eco-friendly benefits. However, in order to encourage the use of bamboo in building construction, it's crucial to assess the flexural performance of bamboo reinforced concrete beams. This study conducts experimental tests to evaluate the effectiveness and performance of concrete beams strengthened with Bambusa arundinacea bamboo strips. Specifically, the study aims to investigate the impact of confinement on BRC (bamboo-reinforced concrete) beams with different stirrup configurations. The analysis involved measuring parameters such as linear stiffness ultimate load, energy absorption capacity, and flexural strength. Notably, the BRC beams with inclined bamboo stirrups exhibited more intriguing results compared to other types of shear reinforcement. Performing a four-point bending test with a strain-controlled loading, a set of 42 beam specimens, each with a fixed shear span to depth ratio, were tested to investigate the impact of various bamboo stirrup configurations. The study includes an analysis of the performance of BRC beams, wherein a comparison is made between conventional PCC, RCC and BRC beams.
