Air bags are an important safety feature of the modern motor vehicle and almost all new vehicles have at least a driver's air bag, if not a passenger air bag and side air bags. As air bags have been fitted to vehicles sold in Australia for more than a decade, it is now common to purchase a second hand vehicle that is equipped with one or more air bags. During the course of a Roadworthy check, the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) equipment must be verified as operational. This equipment may consist of one or more features, such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), seat belt pretensioners and/or an air bag system.
