In the upstream space in recent years,a number of private equity-backed portfolio companies have accepted a hefty amount of equity when they exited to public buyers.In the midstream space,meanwhile,cash has been the main form of consideration.That could change,however."A lot of private equity companies have a positive outlook on stock,"said Chad Smith,partner at Kirkland Ellis."Many midstream companies have seen themselves as undervalued,and private equity shares that view."Smith noted there's a number of midstream companies in the market looking to get deals done in 2023.
