Since the 1970s, the ancient Nakhlak lead mine has been recognized as a source of attractive specimens of reticulated cerussite rivaling those from Tsumeb. Though the deposit has been mined for over 2,000 years, the Iranian miners have always been totally oblivious to specimen values, and specimens have only emerged on the rare occasions when Western mineral collectors and dealers have personally visited the remote desert locality.
