WE FIRST SAW THIS CAR AT THE Frankfurt auto show in 2005, and-being Rides-reading pimp daddies-we loved it. Now, thanks to CEC Wheels, the official importer, it is available in a limited edition of 50 cars. The styling concept of AC Schnitzer's Tension 6 Series from Frankfurt was so well received that AC Schnitzer decided to make a production version. The car shown here is called the AC Schnitzer Tension Street Version, to distinguish it from that show car. The concept claimed 544 hp with intake, exhaust and chip massaging. The Street Version makes do with a small improvement in output because of the dual-sports rear silencer with tailpipes. CEC didn't have the exact figure for horsepower improvement, but these pipes do give it that howlin' cruiser sound. Besides, the stock 500 hp is something we have found more than adequate whenever we drove a BMW M6 (AW, May 16, 2005). The package can be applied to any new 6 Series sold in the States, not just the M6 trim of our test car. Handling upgrades consist of the AC Schnitzer sports suspension spring kit and a strut tower brace. Eibach springs drop the ride about an inch.
