The purpose of this article is to explore the energy eigenvalues of one-dimensional quantum wells. We shall consider several multi-step quantum wells, each containing a particle with position-dependent mass. We will show how these discontinuous arrangements generate a persistent irregular pattern within each distribution of energy eigenvalues. Such patterns have been predicted theoretically; however, we believe the examples that follow provide the first illustration of such phenomena within the current context.
