摘要

Monitoring of water quality in distribution network is essential to assure supply of safe water. Online monitoring by deployment of water quality sensors is gaining importance as it helps in early detection of contamination. Sensors deployment as well as their operation and maintenance are costly; and therefore, number as well as sensor locations should be optimized. Several single and muti-objective based monitoring/sensor locations methodologies and software based on the same are available; however, these are focussed on early detection of intentional/deliberate contamination events. A new software, "MSLOT", is developed under a research project sponsored by Department of Science and Technology for optimal location of monitoring station for detection of accidental (unintentional) contamination events. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used that maximizes the Demand Coverage (DC). The software can also be used to maximize coverage considering risk of contamination intrusion. The application is shown with real life network.
