Civil engineering facilities are constantly being repaired and renewed due to aging and changes in planning and standards to conform to the times. Facilities that have seen the end of their roles are usually taken down, but in many cases they may be preserved as civil engineering legacies when their historical and cultural value is recognized. There is a problem, however, in how they are preserved. Although they are supposedly restored with care, their value can spoiled, with some being off limits to the public and others tampered with. Civil engineering facilities can be appreciated longer if they are properly preserved.
