Ship insurers have agreed to provide the Turkish authorities confirmation of insurance coverage for tankers transiting the Turkish Straits, the International Group of PI Clubs said Dec. 13, resolving an impasse that arose in the wake of the G7’s Russian oil price cap. In a statement, the IG said it reached an agreement with the Turkish government to resolve the matter following “significant engagement” without elaborating.
