X-ED OUT: Jaguar drops X-Type from 2009 U.S. lineup

JAGUAR WILL pull the entry-level X-Type from the U.S. market next March when the sporty new XF sedan goes on sale. Jaguar's most affordable model always has struggled in the United States, and after peaking with about 33,000 cars in its 2002 launch year, sales dropped steadily, plunging to a mere 5200 cars in 2006, despite a wagon being added to the range. This year, Jaguar sold just 2400 X-Types through September.
