Assisted by the eco boom, the number of cyclists has been increasing dramatically these days. In keeping with this trend, however, we've been hearing more and more news stories about collisions between cyclists and pedestrians. Partly in light of this situation, lanes dedicated to bicycles are increasing on our streets, but the way they are laid out is too ambiguous, as some partly occupy pedestrian paths and others utilize the side of the street, which can be even more dangerous for the cyclists. Solutions other than the stereotypical approach to such public facilities must surely exist.
