During 2007, the FIA (Federation Internationale de ['Automobile) considered that energy recovery systems had become relevant technology for Formula 1 (F1). The emergence of mechanically-based high-speed flywheel systems are giving race engineers increased choice. Xtrac is involved in Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) energy efficient motorsport initiatives and has played a key role in designing, developing and integrating a mechanical Kinetic Energy Recovery System (Kers).
