Materials research inspired by a designer's personal interest: From the works of Royal College of Art, Design Products Department programme

The third new academic year since Tord Boontje became professor at the Design Products Department programme Royal College of Art (RCA) began in September. In the graduation exhibition held this June, works strongly reflecting his training policies were seen. Many of the works explored research in materials, and all of them showed fresh perspectives. I talked to Boontje about research done by freelance designers who do not belong to any corporation or organization.
