India’s cement output in September increased by 12pc com-pared with the same month last year as frms expanded production to meet post-monsoon demand. Higher cement production typically boosts demand for coal and petroleum coke. Indian cement manufacturers produced approximately 30mn t of cement in September, up from 27mn t a year earlier, preliminary government data show. The double-digit output growth follows two consecutive months of low single-digit pro-duction increases in July and August. September’s output was also higher compared with 28.9mn t produced in August.
