TOO MANY PEOPLE miss out on great classic-car experiences because they listen to good advice. Everybody has had a dream vintage car that was affordable enough "once upon a time," but gradually started to seem out of reach. By the time I reached my 20s, I was starting to think I'd missed my chance at a Porsche 356A coupe like the ones I'd seen in so many race and rally photos from the '50s and '60s. But, at some point, I committed myself to finding a way to own one before I hit 30 anyway. First, I had to accept that any 3561 could afford would not be perfect.
