SOUTH Korea's leading offshore and marine players Samsung Heavy Industries, Korea Shipbuilding Offshore Engineering (KSOE) and Daewoo Shipbuilding Marine Engineering are all in the red, or expected to be, for the second quarter. Samsung posted a second-quarter net loss of 39.1 billion won ($29.9 million), with an operating loss of 255.8 bilhon won for the three months to 30 June. This was an improvement from the operating loss of 437.9 billion won in the second quarter of 2021. However the offshore and marine contractor's sales were down 3.9 year on year to 1.42 trillion won in the second quarter of this year.
