Last month the Pipe Report highlighted upcoming solar installations and how they were poised to benefit manufacturers of tubing in utility-scale solar applications. In the past, much of the mechanical tubing in these applications accumulated to imports but not necessarily in direct imports of tubing. The chart below shows a comparison of imports of structures and parts, etc., iron and steel (not just tubing) versus imports of other assemblies that include mechanical tubing. Note how the other 70 or so products made from mechanical tubing have been flatish since 2002.
