Most Indonesian coal prices gained this week to hit multiyear highs, although sentiment turned cautious as China intervened to augment domestic supplies. China is planning to build up a 600mn t national coal reserve, equivalent to about 15pc of its annual consumption, top economic planning agency the NDRC said today. At least 200mn t should be available for direct dispatch by central and local governments, with the remaining 400mn t held by companies.
