On 29 September 2009, AngloGold Ashanti Australia Ltd (AngloGold) lodged an application for exploration licence 63/1366 over 109 blocks (Application) at the office of the Mining Registrar at Norseman. On 30 October 2009, James Ian Stewart (Objector) lodged an objection to the Application on inter alia, the following grounds: (a) the Form 21 was signed by an unauthorised sub-agent of Anglo; (b) AngloGold failed to advertise the Application within 14 days of the lodgement date;;and (c) the advertisement on 21 October 2009 incorrectly described the blocks that Anglo had applied for.
