THE FIRST Bombardier E-11A Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) for the USAF's newly activated 18th Airborne Command and Control Squadron (ACCS) was delivered to Robins AFB in Georgia on April 24. The aircraft (serial 22-9046) is the first of ten BACNs that will be assigned to the 18th ACCS, which was activated at Robins on February 10 and serves as a geographically separated unit under the command of the 319th Reconnaissance Wing/Operations Group at Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota. The arrival of this initial E-11A establishes one of the four new mission sets that will be carried out from the Georgia base as it is aligned to prepare for near-peer threats under the USAF's future design structure.
