摘要

IN MANY WAYS, cockroaches are the perfect house guests. They don't need much to eat — the grease behind your oven, for example, or your wallpaper glue, or the polish on your boots is enough to keep them well fed. They need water, but they're more than happy to help themselves to the droplets left in your kitchen sink after you've gone to bed. They don't take up much room — a 1—2 mm crack in your skirting board is enough. And they'll stay well out of your way. You could have a colony of thousands living in your house and you'd never know.
