The Tectonostratigraphy and Geological Evolution of the North Caspian Fold-Thrust Zone

This paper is dedicated to a topical problem of regional geology: the reconstruction of the geological evolution of an Upper Paleozoic-Triassic complex in the southern part of the North Caspian. The understanding of the regional geological evolution is one of the necessary conditions for the increasing reliability of the predicted characteristics of geological objects, whose structure is responsible for the formation of hydrocarbon fluid deposits. In spite of the limited material, which mostly includes 2D seismic data, we created a regional tectonostratigraphic model on the basis of complex interpretation of geological-geophysical information using present-day approaches.
