Egyptian companies partner with foreign firms to develop PC industry

On Jan. 1 2020, Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Co. (ECHEM) signed a $6.7B agreement with US firm Bechtel Group to construct a refinery/PC complex located in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. ECHEM has already finalized preliminary studies for the new facility. Bechtel will provide financing for the new plant, which will help satisfy local demand and to allow for exports.
