摘要

In recent years remarkable progress has been made on developing lowdimensionalperovskite-related materials. In particular, with the aim of goingtoward compounds with low toxicity, various low-dimensional metal halidenanocrystals have been synthesized and investigated. These nanocrystallinecompounds crystallize in a plethora of structures and dimensionalities, inmany cases with exciting optical properties. Thanks to their photoluminescenceemission, which is typically broad and largely Stokes-shifted, suchnanocrystals can find applications in indoor lighting, scintillators and luminescentsolar concentrators. In this review, recent developments leading tothe improvement/management of light emission from such low-dimensionalmetal halide nanocrystals are highlighted and the possible origin of their lightemission is discussed. Furthermore, parallels with their bulk counterparts aredrawn and an outlook on what is still worth exploring/studying in this field ofresearch is provided.
