New Relationship Between the Annals of Plastic Surgery and the California Society of Plastic Surgeons

The Annals of Plastic Surgery has a tradition of developing relationships with regional plastic surgery societies. The California Society of Plastic Surgeons, the largest state society of plastic surgeons, is the next to do so. The 61st Annual Meeting of the California Society of Plastic Surgeons held in Monterey, California May 27-30, 2011 will be the first meeting to feature manuscripts in a special April 2012 edition of Annals based on presented abstracts. Over the years, the Annals of Plastic Surgery has developed relationships with regional plastic surgery societies. This tradition began under the editorial leadership of William D. Morain, MD (1992-2007) who served on the Dartmouth Medical School faculty from 1976-1997. In the May 2011 issue of Annals, manuscripts are featured from the annual meetings of the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons. The articles are based on presentations from these meetings, having undergone peer review by virtue of their initial scrutiny by their program committees and revision based on the often lively discussions following each presentation. These manuscripts are directed toward publication with an executive editorial review and copyediting.
