China's top steel producing province, Hebei, plans to reduce its crude steel output to 228.06 mt this year, a decline of 21.71 mt or 9, from 249.77 mt last year, to meet Beijing's target to cap the country's overall production at last year's 1.06 bnt, the local government said. Hebei's crude steel production was 121.54 mt in the first six months of 2021, flat to a year earlier. Production is expected to be slashed by 16 on the year in the second half to 106.51 mt, IHS Markit calculations based on the plan show.
