Threat from urea seems overblown

Contrary to the government's assertions, I suspect the amount of ammonium released from urea fertiliser used on farms is relatively minor, even when used throughout the whole season (News, 13 November). That is because growers use fertiliser only when it will work. They have no incentive to waste nitrogen they have paid for.
