Effect of EDTA on two RNases from wheat leaves1

Two RNases, designated WL-RNase I and II, were separated from extracts of senescing wheat leaves. WL-RNase II, but not WL-RNase I, was inhibited by EDTA. A period of time was necessary for the full effect of EDTA to be observed. Zinc ions abolished the EDTA effect.
